Happy New Year! 2020 was a year packed full of unprecedented changes to the Library and our community. While our buildings have been closed, we have persevered and continued to provide service, with curbside holds pickup, specially selected Book Bundles and curbside printing.
Digital library cards provided online access to extensive digital resources, available 24/7 at KRL.org. We also introduced virtual Book-a-Librarian appointments for one-on-one individualized help and added digital magazines to our eBook and audio-book collection through Overdrive.
In a time where we couldn't meet in person, we connected with our community through weekly book groups, story-times and discussion groups, including the Anti-Racism Learning Circle, fostering courageous conversations around becoming an ally to communities of color.
As we look ahead at 2021 with curiosity and enthusiasm, we hope to open our doors soon! For now, many exciting projects are in the works. Supported by the Kitsap Regional Library Foundation's fundraising efforts, a new partnership and a new library are underway in Silverdale on the Central Kitsap High School campus. We're excited to share this new library with you later this fall.
We are also beginning a journey, imagining a new library in Port Orchard as part of the South Kitsap Community Event Center, for which the City of Port Orchard has just announced the site selection.
No matter what the future brings, the Library will always be a place of inspiration for our community, where you can dream more, learn more, do more and be more.
