Symphony and Chorale to Perform Merry & Bright December 15th

Bremerton Symphony continues their 77th season, sponsored by Kitsap Bank and the Bremerton-Kitsap Airporter, with a holiday concert led by Music Director Alan Futterman and sponsored by CHI Franciscan.

On Sunday, December 15th, 2019, 3:00 p.m, at the Bremerton Performing Arts Center, the Bremerton WestSound Symphony will present “Merry & Bright”, a memorable journey through a variety of cultural and historical holiday pieces that are sure to surprise and delight. It will begin with English composer Benjamin Britten’s  A Ceremony of Carols, a lively and challenging piece accompanied by a single harpist that will showcase the women of the Chorale in conjunction with Lyrica, Ladies Choral Ensemble of Puget Sound. The full Chorale then joins the orchestra in the beautiful French  Pavane by Gabriel Fauré, followed by  Navidad, a Mexican-inspired orchestral piece composed by our very own Maestro Alan Futterman. We then take a detour into a marriage of fantasy and romance in Tchaikovsky’s  Romeo and Juliet, before heading back to the familiarity of an American traditional holiday with composer Leroy Anderson’s nostalgic piece,  A Christmas Festival.  The Chorale will join the Orchestra once more for a traditional Jewish hymn, Rock of Ages, arranged by Alan Futterman and the grand finale of Rimsky-Korsakov’s exciting Christmas Eve, depicting a sleigh ride through a Russian landscape with a jubilant choral Polonaise.

The box office will open at 2 p.m. and the Bremerton WestSound Youth Jazz ensemble will present A Taste of the Season prior to the concert in the lobby. Please come enjoy and support this young group of budding musicians.
