Young Artist Competition Winners Announced

Bremerton Symphony’s 2019 Young Artist Competition took place Saturday, March 16th, at Saint Paul’s  Episcopal Church. Nineteen local students from Kitsap and Mason Counties participated in the adjudication, performing pieces of their own selection for judges Alan Futterman (Music Director, Bremerton Symphony Orchestra) and Gary Dahl (Associate Conductor, Bremerton Symphony Orchestra). 

The following prizes were awarded: 

   Senior Division Winner: Caleb Winslow

   Runners Up: Hanna Inoue, Lucinda King

   Junior Division Winner: Daniel Winslow

   Runners Up: Kai Canton, Lily Winslow, Cyrus Yan

Two participants, Adrian King and Owen Espinosa, were ineligible to win because they are the winners of last year's competition. Conductor's Recognition Awards were given to the following students, who were invited to perform at future Bremerton Symphony concerts:

  • Lucinda King (Kapustin Concerto #2) and Caleb Winslow (Poulenc Concerto in C# minor) will perform on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 7:30PM at Gracepoint Church in Bremerton and Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 3PM at Kingston High School.
  • Kai Canton (Rachmaninov), Owen Espinosa (Prokofiev, Liszt), Hanna Inoue (Prokofiev), Adrian King (Janacek), Lucinda King (Bolcom, Beethoven), Rachel Tan (Wang), Caleb Winslow (Rachmaninov), Daniel Winslow (Kabalevski), Lily Winslow (MacDowell), and Cyrus Yan (Chopin) will perform on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 3PM at North Point Church in Poulsbo.
