BARN's mission is to build and support an open, intergenerational community of artisans and makers dedicated to learning, teaching, and inspiring each other with creativity, craftsmanship, and community service.

The Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN) is located on Bainbridge Island at 8890 Three Tree Lane NE and their website is https://bainbridgebarn.org/.

BARN's mission is to build and support an open, intergenerational community of artisans and makers dedicated to learning, teaching, and inspiring each other with creativity, craftsmanship, and community service.

BARN includes twelve artisan studios in the following disciplines: Book Arts, Electronic and Technical Arts, Fiber Arts, Glass Arts, Jewelry & Fine Metals, Kitchen Arts, Media Arts & Bainbridge Community Broadcasting, Metal Fabrication, Printmaking, Sheet Metal & Welding, Woodworking & Small Boat Building, and Writers. Each studio offers an ongoing series of classes, events, and open studios. All classes are open to anyone ages 14 and up. BARN memberships are available, and offer discounts on classes and open studio times, as well as special events. The schedule of upcoming events can be found on the BARN website at BainbridgeBarn.org/Classes.

BARN’s goal is to create a true community center, using craft as a magnet to bring together people who would not normally know one another or have opportunities to collaborate. We want to connect seniors eager to pass on skills they spent decades learning with young people just starting out.

Working side-by-side, participants will share tips, ask questions, and lend a hand when needed, gradually building trust and new friendships. Community service projects done in BARN’s workshops will widen the circle of connections even more. The result will be a more resilient community—one where people have hands-on skills and are committed to helping one another.
