Bremerton Symphony Association Announces 75th Season

Bremerton Symphony is proud to present their 75th concert season, sponsored by Kitsap Bank. The season begins with bebop in Jazz and the Romantic, showcasing the music of Charlie Parker, as Maestro Futterman calls him, “the Mozart of Jazz.” Kitsap Jazz legend Mark Lewis presents famous tunes from Charlie Parker with Strings for a rollicking and toe-tapping program to delight audiences of all ages. American classic the Romantic Symphony of Howard Hanson rounds out opening night.

Bremerton Symphony raises the roof in the season finale with two acts from opera favorite La bohème, featuring Kitsap Opera and Bremerton Symphony Chorale, plus a true barnburner, the first movement Gustav Mahler’s Symphony of a Thousand.

In between, audiences enjoy Victory at Sea on Veterans Day, along with John Williams’ Hymn to the Fallen, a Mozart cantata, and the irrepressible wit of Gilbert and Sullivan. For the holidays, two performances of Händel’s beloved Messiah will fill the intimate setting of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. On Saint Patrick’s Day, enjoy Celtic Dreams with violin phenomenon Sophie Lee. In April the best and the brightest young talents from our region are showcased in a varied program in Poulsbo and Bremerton.

Bremerton Youth Symphony’s ensembles, comprised of up to 200 Kitsap-area students studying orchestra, choral, and jazz music, will delight audiences with three unique programs at Bremerton Performing Arts Center, featuring classical and contemporary repertoire, in October, March, and May.

Special events for the season include “Love on the High Seas” aboard the USS Turner Joy August 6, a USO Dance at Olympic College on September 30, “Brunch with Bach” youth symphony gala on January 27, and “Symphonic Salute,” a free Memorial Day concert featuring the Kitsap Navy Band on May 26.
